This work was created due to the unfortunate number of men and women who experience sexual assault or domestic violence in their lifetime. As an ongoing series of photographs, The Handprint Story is intended to, not only bring awareness to the topic, but also allow survivors an opportunity to share their story through the use of significant colors in a photograph. Each survivor has chosen the colors that best represent their story and wears them in the form of applied handprints to signify their encounter as well as the solidity, healing, and vulnerability that occurs after experiencing this type of trauma.
This series is intended to be continuous and I encourage anyone who would like to participate to please contact me.
